CDC Simmie CL is the newest red lentil variety with the Clearfield trait.
It is a high-yielding variety with the same plant height and similar seed size as CDC Maxim.
Characteristics are quoted from the 2023 SaskSeed Guide:
- 7% yield increase compared to CDC Maxim
- Good resistance to Ascochyta Blight & Anthracnose Race 1
- The average seed weight is 39 g/1000 seeds (-1 gram of CDC Maxim)

CDC Simmie CL has yielded 107% of CDC Maxim's in brown and dark brown soil zones, and 102% in the black and dark grey soil zones.
The variety shares several key traits with CDC Maxim, including seed coat and cotyledon color, flowering time, maturity, plant height, and disease resistance characteristics.
