CDC Fraser is a high-yielding two-row malting barley with a good disease package, large plump kernels and excellent lodging resistance. This variety has excellent brewing qualities.
Characteristics are quoted from the 2023 SaskSeed Guide:
- Yields are the same as check variety AAC Synergy, also 14% higher than AC Metcalfe, 8% higher than CDC Copeland
- Shorter and stronger straw and good resistance to lodging
- Resistant to spotted Net Blotch, Spot Blotch, and Loose Smut.
- Moderately Resistant to Netted Net Blotch, and Stem Rust
- Intermediate Resistant to Fusarium Head Blight
- Moderately Susceptible to Scald and Root Rot
- Maturity date similar to the CDC Copeland

- Low beta-glucan content
- FAN levels lower than AC Metcalfe
- High brewhouse efficiency
