CDC Sunset Desi Chickpea
Coming Spring of 2027! CDC Sunset is the new Desi chickpea variety. It is tolerant to imazamox herbicide (Solo ADV as per PMRA label registration).
Characteristics are quoted from SaskPulse:
- 93% yield of the check variety CDC Lancer
- Ascochyta Blight rating – 4.3 (where 0 = no disease, 9 = completely blighted)
- Maturity – M (Medium)
- Seed size – 284 g/1000 seeds

CDC Sunset Desi Chickpea
Overview: CDC Sunset is a new, good-yielding desi chickpea variety, with imazamox tolerance (Solo ADV as per PMRA label registration).
Performance: In rigorous regional chickpea trials (2020-2023), CDC Sunset yielded 104% in the brown soil zone and 103% in the dark brown soil zone (compared to the standard "Amit"). Maturity is similar to CDC Lancer and CDC Leader. It has a larger seed than CDC Cory.

- Herbicide tolerance (imazamox)
- Larger seed size than CDC Cory
- Earlier maturity compared to CDC Cory & CDC Consul
- Higher tolerance to Ascochyta blight vs. kabuli chickpea varieties
