Description: AAC Goldrush winter wheat is a remarkable hard red wheat variety with high yields, excellent winter hardiness, and good standability. AAC Goldrush stands out for its rust resistance, like leaf rust ('R') and stem rust ('MR'). It also displays intermediate resistance to fusarium head blight (FHB) and stripe rust ('I').

Agronomic Traits:

  • High grain yield.
  • Strong straw and medium plant height
  • Very good winter hardiness and plant survival.
  • Resistance to lodging and performs well under variable snow cover conditions.
  • Good yield and high-quality hard vitreous kernels (HVK).

AAC Goldrush is an ideal choice for growers in southern Saskatchewan.

Origin & Breeding History: AAC Goldrush was selected from a cross of 'S98-11' // 'Crimson'/'CDC Falcon' conducted in 2004 at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Lethbridge Research and Development Centre, Lethbridge, Alberta. Extensive selection and evaluation were performed based on winter survival, plant type, height, and straw strength, ensuring its superior performance. Multi-location agronomic trials were carried out, evaluating disease resistance, end-use quality, and more.

Field Trials: Comparative trials for AAC Goldrush were held during the 2016 and 2018 growing seasons at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Lethbridge Research and Development Centre, Lethbridge, Alberta.
